Joan was a 59 year old, loving mother of three grown children and their
spouses and grandmother of
three grandchildren. She was a very strong woman who met many
obstacles in her
life and had triumphed over all of them. Her life had just
finally gotten to the point that
everything was happy and peaceful. She felt that life in
Goochland County was
"heaven on earth" and never would have dreamed something like this
would ever occur
to herself or to anyone else in her life. Her generosity extended
beyond her family to the
community in ways that all who knew her felt they were also a part of
her family.
The family of Joan W. Weigelhofer pleads for any information and is
offering a reward of $10,000 for information leading to the arrest
and conviction of the person(s) responsible for her murder.
An additional $5000 has been contributed by a close family friend.
Joan was a Goochland County realtor, who was slain in her office at
Busy Bee Realty,
in Goochland County, VA, at 4119 Broad Street Road (south side of U.S.
Route 250)
midway between Gum Spring and Hadensville, on the afternoon of
Thursday, August 14, 2003, between 3:50 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
A dark sport utility vehicle was seen
parked at the front door of the office during this time.
